Frequently asked questions…
-
dentalworks is an on-demand staffing app where dental temps and dental offices can connect to solve short term staffing needs.
It’s like Uber but for dental staffing!
-
dentalworks is free for temps and we charge dental offices a low 8% fee to cover payment processing and keep our lights on.
Traditional staffing agencies and other staffing apps charge a service fee between 20%-50% of the temp’s pay, along with several additional costs.
We love that we can help everyone win!
-
Staffing agencies and job placement services have inescapable overhead costs, such as: building rent, payroll taxes, supplies, equipment, etc.
dentalworks is not a staffing agency. We provide a marketplace for dental temps and dental offices to connect, communicate, and collaborate with each other, keeping our costs low and passing the savings to our users.
-
Accountability. If a temp no shows, has bad work ethic, or is undertrained, there is no recourse available through a Facebook group. dentalWORKS holds users accountable for unprofessional conduct, ensuring only the best professionals are on the platform.
Visibility. Facebook groups have lot of posts not related to finding shifts, causing an office’s job listing to be buried in the activity. With dentalWORKS, temps can filter and search the right jobs for them.
Insight. Little is known about a temp’s experience level, reliability, or work history when using Facebook. dentalWORKS fills in the blanks with reviews, profiles, bios, training, etc., making it easier to find a better fit.
-
Accountability. Offices can sometimes forget to pay temps or not pay at all. They may also have hostile or unsafe work environments. With dentalworks, we ensure dental offices maintain a level of safety and professionalism.
Visibility. On Facebook, temps need to scroll endlessly to find shifts that work with their schedule and training. Leading to wasted time and missed opportunities. With dentalworks, you can filter jobs by date, pay, or location to ensure you find the right job for you.
Ratings. Little is known about a dental office before you take a temp shift with them. On dentalworks, you can see reviews on dental offices from other temps and you can leave a review for the office after you’ve completed a shift. This allows temps to make more informed decisions about where they work.
-
Each job post includes what the employment relationship for that shift will be (either W2 or 1099.)
Once a shift is completed, the dental office will pay you by their preferred method (check, direct deposit, Venmo, etc.)
-
The IRS allows dental professionals who temp to be paid as W2 employees or 1099 independent contractors. The decision on which to use is ultimately up to the dental office and the temp to decide based on their State’s laws.
1099 allows temps to keep more of their money in their pockets and access tax write offs for business expenses (e.g. gas, cell phone, scrubs, etc.), but it comes with more responsibility like paying your own taxes and having liability insurance.
W2 pay is great if you don’t want to worry about taxes and withholdings, but you also lose access to tax write offs for business expenses that a 1099 worker has access to.
We have a great article on our blog that goes over the details of working as a 1099 independent contractor. -
When creating a job on dentalworks you’ll be asked how the temp will be paid for this shift (1099 or W2).
When a temp finishes their shift, you mark the job as “completed” on the dentalworks app and then you will process payment to them in whatever manner is most convenient.
-
Nope. We only charge an 8% flat fee per shift. No monthly subscriptions or outlandish charges.
We have no temp-to-permanent hire fees or same day job fees. We don’t believe in nickel and diming dentalworks users.
-
We’re not a staffing agency, we’re a tech company!
dentalworks is an on demand staffing app that brings people together.
Dental offices and dental temps use our app to connect, communicate, and work together.
-
Staffing agencies are a middleman. They prevent dental offices from communicating with temps and offices also don’t get to pick the temp that shows up for work that day.
With dentalworks, offices and temps can work together, free of any middleman.
-
Not currently. But as we build and grow our company we plan to offer more perks to temps like paid time off, insurance coverage, and bonuses!

No. Not all dental offices need temps every month, so we don’t lock you into expensive monthly subscriptions. Pay per use—simple!
